Yeah, it comes with two seperate pieces (the hakama pants and a shirt-thing), and then a sash that goes over them. (I'd know, I have it.) It's a surprisingly good ready-made cosplay, too. (I'd recommend buying it.) The only bit that's wrong is that (in the Bleach manga and anime), they wear two seperate kimono shirts, a white, and then a black. On this cosplay, however, the white bit is sewn onto the end of the black fabric to make it LOOK like you are wearing two different kimono shirts. Hope this helped!

does the hakama have the backboard and split sides? cant tell since the kimono/juben top is untucked, I figured it would be as the kikyo hakama appeared to have the board

I was wondering that too. I figured that they did not make the proper Hadajuban for the kimono, and wonder if the kimono has the proper split in the arm pits.. if not thats not a big deal, I can remove the " fake Hadajuban" and just wear a real one and add the split under the arms..Hakama are alittle harder to alter if they dont already have the backboard, as the back board has several key functions in proper wear.. I'll find out regardless as I ordered the matsumoto costume, and will fix what needs fixed,

if you do the horsemans style hakama then you have a board, if its just traditional the back piece is just a thicker fold of cloth that is for looping the waistband/sash through, like a big belt loop basically

from what I've noticed with the shinigami uniforms they are pretty simple:

white Juben worn under a black kimono " with cuts under the arms so you see the juben under it"

Black Hakama " traditional cuts on the hip, firm backboard/double ties

white sash

the nice part is its so simple and traditional, that you can buy the authentic japanese garments, make them, or order a pre-made costume for about the same price.

with so many references Im more than positive that costume makers would be sure to for the most part get it right..perhaps cut a corner here and there but overall still give you what you want.. if not it would be easy to alter
